Join Dagmar Bock and Sebastian Grubb for a weekend intensive drawing from the fields of biomechanics, Contact Improvisation, and somatic attunement. We'll dive into personal and group research as a collective laboratory for developing our movement potential.
Suitable for those with a movement, dance or exercise practice. Open to all levels.
DANCING ANATOMIES invites exploration of movement through an understanding of biomechanics and applied anatomy, cultivating a deeper awareness of the body in motion. This approach empowers movement that respects the healthy range of motion of one's skeletal joints, while organizing the connective tissue network that recycles energy and helps us move and balance dynamically. Our focus is on creating the optimal conditions for a wide range of movement choices, allowing the freedom to follow one's own dance. Movement principles and practiced patterns can serve as a springboard for playfulness and creativity in the shared dance.
The Axis Syllabus is the name of a book by Frey Faust, one edition of which Sebastian edited over a 2-year period. We are both Certified Axis Syllabus Teachers and will be drawing on Frey’s work as well as our collective knowledge as long-term movement practitioners and professional dancers.
