Save-the-Date for this three-day workshop series with Spinn Dance Company. I’ll be guest facilitator and am truly looking forward to researching movement together as a group of diverse bodies and people.
ABOUT
This movement workshop includes movement training that integrates the whole body and dance-based exercises that bring additional dynamic and creative exploration with physical contact. The overarching focus is to connect as a group to make creative choices and explore body-based art-making beyond our individual identities and ideas.
The morning session “Play/Ground” lays the foundation for life-long strength and mobility training that supports wellbeing. We will use an evolutionary lens to make sense of full-body conditioning that sustains and develops movement ability in the human animal.
The afternoon session “Social Animals” branches out toward partner exercises and more dynamic movement exploration, including exercises from Contact Improvisation (a dance-based movement research practice in its own right). We will weave in and build toward larger-scale ensemble scores that incorporate all our explorations from earlier sessions.
