Class: Contact Improvisation @ San Francisco, CA

  • The Castro Room 97 Collingwood Street San Francisco, CA, 94114 United States (map)

Making Contact

Sebastian first encountered Contact Improvisation in 2006 by accidentally joining a Jam. While stretching on the floor and wondering why the teacher was so late, another participant started rolling on him and he realized, “Oh - this is Contact!”

This class focuses on essential skills and helpful perspectives for the movement research practice known as Contact Improvisation, which is sometimes described as an "art sport" and an "athletic duet". Participants will learn practical ways to establish trust and build dynamic interactions with others, leading to joyful and exciting dances. For movers, dancers, yogis and other humans. All levels and beginners welcome.

Sebastian has been teaching dance and healthy movement principles since 2007. He recently moved to Copenhagen and is excited to return to San Francisco as part of a teaching tour this Winter. Learn more about Sebastian below.

Please bring a long-sleeve shirt and long-sleeve pants for sliding and partner work.
